What is Dry Needling?

Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN) is a manual therapy technique performed using a filiform needle to treat neuromuscular pain and improve flexibility in muscles. The needle is inserted into the trigger point of a muscle for a brief period which causes a twitch response, and then relaxation of the trigger point. To become certified in Colorado a Physical Therapist must go through an extensive continuing education course involving; hands on training, book learning, and competency testing. Dry needling can be beneficial in the treatment of the following conditions:
Tensions headaches
Neck and low back tightness
“Knots” in muscles
Muscular pain
